Recall Alert: Deadly Bacteria Found in Cheese
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
Ah, cheese — one of the tastiest treats around.
And nothing makes a weekend better than sitting down with a ripe bunch of grapes and a delicious chunk of cheddar or a big ol’ wheel of brie.
But it turns out you could get more than just a satisfying snack in the cheese section — you could also get a nasty infection.
You see, there are over 130 cheeses in the U.S. being recalled for contamination from listeria — a dangerous and sometimes deadly bug.
The recall began earlier this month when a random listeria test came up positive from a cheese sample produced by Deutsch Kase Haus LLC. The recall includes popular brands like Sargento, Sarah Lee, Dutch Valley and store brands like those of Albertsons, Meijer and H-E-B.
Symptoms of listeria infection include severe headache, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, stiffness and high fever. Listeria is particularly dangerous for older folks, children, people with compromised immune systems and pregnant women.
No reported cases of infection are linked to the recall at the moment, but it can take up to 70 days after exposure for symptoms to develop. So be sure to monitor your health if you’ve eaten any of the below-listed products.

If you experience any listeria symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
Live well,
