REVEALED: Big Pharma’s “Mood-Boosting” Drug FAIL

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

Every now and then, I get a scientific study that makes me laugh out loud.

It’s not the topics that I find hilarious – quite the opposite.

The reason I find myself chuckling over research is because of all the crazy math these mainstream researchers do, to try to make the drug they’re researching still sound usable.

So, when I saw a recent study published in The Lancet that tried to justify Big Pharma’s “mood-boosting” drug FAIL, I knew I had to share it with you.

There has never been a more hyped drug than antidepressants.

While they were invented in the 1950s, they didn’t really get going until the mid-1980s. Since then, millions of people have taken them.

Antidepressants are big business… in fact, they’re expected to make drug companies almost $16 BILLION by 2023.

What can we say after four decades of antidepressant use?

Not much.

And this study REALLY puts the writing on the wall.

In a ludicrous new study, researchers found that they could say that antidepressants  worked 50.78 percent of the time if they divided the 3,678,082 patients with major depression in the study into 16,770 subgroups of patients – based on age, race, gender (and maybe hair and eye color too?!).

This is a ridiculous amount of mathematical manipulation in order to create a 50 percent chance of the drug working.

And these are their “best” drugs!

But it gets worse. When you look at the overall data of how many people got better vs. how many people didn’t, the number drops down to just 30 percent.

I don’t know if you’re a gambling person, but most people wouldn’t take a bet with only a 30 percent chance of winning.

If you want a better chance at relief, try some the following natural solutions instead.

Dr. Scott’s Plan to Reduce Depression

  • Studies suggest that inflammation may be at the root of depression. You can reduce inflammation by taking supplements like fish oil curcumin, and avoiding foods like vegetable oils and sugars.
  • Exercise is one of the best proven ways to decrease both anxiety AND depression. Find a way to get out and exercise every day, even for just ten minutes a day.
  • St. John’s wort and the amino acid 5-HTP have both been shown to help with depressed moods. Just make sure you don’t take them if you’re already taking an antidepressant.
  • Many studies have linked poor sleep to depression. If you’re having problems sleeping, try using calming herbs like valerian and chamomile, the amino acid L-theanine, or melatonin.

If you’re currently taking an antidepressant, do not stop treatment quickly – this can lead to dangerous side effects and withdrawal. If you want to opt for a more natural route and get away from antidepressants, be sure to talk with your doctor first.

P.S. Winter makes living with depression even tougher, but now, it got just a little bit easier thanks to this delicious beverage. Find out which morning favorite can DEFEAT your “winter blues” by clicking right here.
