REVERSE Diabetes AND Eat Like a King? (Wow!)
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
If you have diabetes, you’ve probably been put through the wringer when it comes to treatment.
You’ve been bullied into risky meds, outrageous workout plans, and even starvation diets.
And I’ll bet NONE of it’s made a noticeable difference.
Now all of that is about to change.
The secret to beating diabetes isn’t a prescription or boot camp exercises.
Because you can REVERSE diabetes AND eat like a king while doing it.
In a recent study from the British Medical Journal, researchers found that diabetes patients can gain control of their blood sugar with a simple low-carb diet.
After reviewing the results of 23 different trials, they found that type 2 diabetes patients who stuck to a low-carb diet for six months sent their diabetes into remission.
In fact, they had a 32 percent higher chance of beating diabetes when compared with folks who didn’t make changes to their diet.
Diabetes patients have a natural carb-intolerance because these foods spike blood sugar and increase insulin resistance.
So what does a low-carb meal plan look like?
The mainstream definition of a low-carb diet says that 26 percent (or less) of your calories should come from carbs.
But I prefer a much lower amount: 10 percent. I also encourage my patients to make sure that the carbs they do eat are in the form of low-sugar vegetables.
This means you stay away from all sugars, all grains, almost all fruits, and all starchy veggies.
It sounds difficult, but there are actually many delicious foods you can still eat in moderation. Low-carb doesn’t have to mean low-calorie: you can eat MORE of certain foods, including protein (carnivores, rejoice!).
There’s more good news: sticking to just ten percent carbs doesn’t have to last forever. Use it to kickstart the fat-burning process as well as reduce your sugar cravings, and then slowly add more carbs back in (though no more than 26 percent).
And if you’re looking for more motivation, consider this terrifying statistic: diabetes is so hard on your body that it can take seven to twelve years off of your life.
Here’s to a lighter plate and a fuller life!
P.S. More reason to root for low -carb—research shows that it’s WAY more effective than the low-fat diet the mainstream loves. Click here to find out more.
