“Secret Test” Diagnoses Heart Failure?

Dear Reader,

Almost 400,000 people in the United States die each year from heart failure.

It’s, quite literally, a heart-breaking statistic.

While it’s not the leading cause of death, heart failure is certainly is certainly close to the top.

So, we have to ask ourselves – why?

See, knowing who IS at risk and who is not, has always been a problem…

Meaning, diagnosing heart disease is difficult.

But now, thanks to new research, a “secret test” might lead us to a better diagnosis.

Here’s what you need to know.

*****

I’m talking about transthyretin, also known as prealbumin.

Transthyretin is not a household name, but it is extremely important in medicine.

The reason why transthyretin is a good marker for heart disease is a bit of a long story.

Transthyretin is one of the proteins that can cause amyloidosis. Amyloidosis is a disease that causes proteins called amyloid fibrils to fill in space all over your body.

The more fibrils, the more likely the organ will fail.

Transthyretin amyloidosis is where those fibrils accumulate around your heart, leading to heart failure.

While that is a lot of steps, it gives us a way to test for heart failure.

The researchers looked at 9,582 people and measured their Transthyretin levels and found those levels closely related to the amount of heart failure in the future.

Regardless of any test, it is important that you take care of your heart.

Let me show you how:

Dr. Scott’s Heart Disease Program:

  • Exercise: Exercise not only reduces inflammation, but is great for the heart (and the brain). You don’t have to be too crazy, just get out and move your body around some every day.
  • Eat Colorful Foods: This means getting enough vegetables in your diet. If you can’t stand veggies, you can “cheat” by getting your veggies and other superfoods in a powered form. I take one every day by mixing it into yogurt and some berries.
  • Avoid Vegetable Oils: Vegetable oils, especially trans fatty acids, are like setting off tiny bombs in your blood stream which increase inflammation.
  • Fish Oil: One of the most powerful anti-inflammatories is fish oil. It works inside your body to keep inflammatory proteins low.
  • Curcumin: This extract from turmeric is great at helping the body modulate inflammation. Unless you get a ton of this in your food, you should think about supplementing.

P.S. If heart worries are on your mind, look no further. Read more here about a bathroom secret that can STOP heart failure… before it stops you.
