[SENIORS] Do You Know About These 3 COVID-19 Symptoms?

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

It was beginning to look like this COVID-19 thing was wrapping up… and then the Delta variant swept in.

Any student of history could tell you that this is exactly what happened in the early 1900s with the Spanish flu. The first wave was bad, but the second wave was what really caused the major death toll.

That means we still have to stay on our toes. And if you’re of a certain age, you really have to stay alert… because COVID can look VERY different in seniors.

Researchers have discovered that these three symptoms could be a sign of a COVID-19 infection for folks over 65.

And missing them could be fatal.

*****

A new study from the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research found that a third of COVID-19 patients 65 or older had peculiar symptoms: functional decline, problems thinking, or stomach issues.

According to the researchers, over a quarter of the folks in the group suffered from functional decline, and were having trouble doing daily tasks.

Then roughly 10 percent had been admitted to the hospital because they had trouble thinking and were confused.

The remaining part of the group, however, were suffering from stomach issues which has become more recognized as a symptom of COVID-19.

But here’s the kicker: in half of those people, this was the ONLY symptom they had.

There was no coughing… no loss of smell… no difficulty breathing… none of the things we’ve come to recognize as signs of a COVID-19 infection.

If you’re vaccinated, your odds are a lot better, but not by much. As we’ve seen, bugs are smart, and have been able to find ways around our other medicines we create.

The best defense is to stay healthy. As always: work on any underlying health conditions you have, especially if you’re overweight and have diabetes or heart disease.

Secondly, make sure you get in and get tested no matter what symptoms you have. If you notice a change in yourself or your loved ones, get to the doctor’s office.

Finally, stay safe. Continue to practice social distancing and wear a mask whenever you leave your home, whether you’re vaccinated or not.
