[SENIORS] Out-of-Control Blood Pressure? Try This!

A new study has found that exercise can lower blood pressure… even in difficult-to-treat cases. 

A group of researchers, publishing their work in the journal JAMA Network, designed a unique study of exercise’s influence on blood pressure. 

They began by enrolling folks who had trouble with their blood pressure. But these weren’t just normal cases… these folks hadn’t had any luck lowering their blood pressure with the usual treatments. 

Half of these volunteers continued the usual treatment, but the other added in three 40-minute exercise sessions a week. 

When compared to a group of volunteers that didn’t exercise, the exercising group saw a 7.1 point (mm/Hg) drop in their ambulatory systolic blood pressure (essentially a “snapshot” of your blood pressure). 

The exercise group also saw a drop in their daytime systolic AND diastolic numbers! 

Any reduction in blood pressure is a success when you’re used to not seeing the number move at all. 

So, if you want to see your blood pressure drop, get out and move your body around. The exercise you do doesn’t have to be complicated or all that hard – simple walking will help.  

Just make sure to get 120 minutes of exercise a week, if you’d like to get similar results.
