STOP Brain Shrink with THIS Snack Hack
I hate to say it. But there’s an elephant in the room…
And THIS pachyderm has got something to say about our brain health.
The fact is, growing older changes our brains. In many ways for the worse.
You see, as we age, we lose brain cells and our brains shrink. It happens to the best of us.
But for some folks, the shrink is FASTER, and there’s MORE of it. And if you’re in that boat, you can lose your sharpness as a result.
But it’s not ALL bad news. Because new research has uncovered a way to PROTECT your brain.
Not everyone with a bunch of candles on their birthday cake suffers from RAPID brain loss.
It turns out some seniors are able to fight off significant brain shrinkage and its accompanying cognitive decline. In fact, this group of “super-agers” often remains sharp as a tack their entire lives.
Want do these beefy brain seniors have in common?
According to a new study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, they never met a nut or peanut they didn’t like.
The study followed 6,630 older adults for two years. The participants who ate nuts at least once a day performed significantly better on brain tests.
They had better overall cognitive function and better scores on a clock drawing test designed to measure cognitive skills than their nut-skipping peers. Plus, as a bonus, they also had a lower body mass index.
“Nuts” is a general umbrella term that’s used for…
- tree or true nuts, including chestnuts, hazelnuts, pecans, and walnuts
- peanuts, which are legumes
- almonds, which are drupes
- cashews, which are fruits
All of these nuts share a few common benefits.
First, they’re nutrient-rich, containing plenty of proteins, fats, minerals, and vitamins.
Many nuts are naturally anti-inflammatory because of their essential fatty acid content. And they’re generally high in disease-fighting antioxidants.
The combination of these benefits leads to the brain-protecting (neuroprotective) effects of eating nuts. So go ahead and send that annoying elephant packing by snacking on a daily fistful of nuts.
And another thing…
