STOP Diabetes, Heart Disease, and More… With BEER?!
I’ve been known to crack open a beer every now and then.
And who could blame me?
When consumed in moderation, this delicious brew can lower your stress… improve your bad cholesterol… and even strengthen your bones.
Now we know it contains powerful compounds that can help STOP many deadly diseases before they start.
Here’s everything you need to know.
I’m talking about hops – one of the grains used to make beer.
Metabolic syndrome is a common condition that marked by being overweight (especially carrying around a gut), high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high levels of LDL cholesterol, and high levels of triglycerides.
It’s the precursor to heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and even cancer. And nearly 35 percent of American adults have it.
But new research shows that hops can end metabolic syndrome – and the diseases it causes – before it’s too late.
A recent study, published in the journal Molecular Nutrition and Food Research, found an extract from hops called xanthohumol (or XN) and its two derivatives (called DXN and TXN) can improve cognitive and other functions in people with metabolic syndrome.
These compounds (XN, DNX, TXN) are what give hop its distinctive flavors.
But the question was WHY would these compounds help with brain function.
The answer is they all improve glucose tolerance, insulin resistance, and sensitivity to leptin (that hormone that tells you to feel full).
And all of these factors have an impact on your brain… and your metabolism.
These hops compounds work because they improve the diversity of certain microorganisms in your gut and also reduce inflammation, which in turn helps lower your blood sugar.
XN, DNX, TXN also seem to help support the good bugs and harm the bad ones in your microbiome.
But drinking beer isn’t the only way to get more hops. You can find hops supplements at your local natural health store or from online retailers like amazon.com.
