The Belly Trick for PERFECT Sleep
A good night’s sleep can be hard to come by during these stressful times.
But not getting enough rest is like playing with fire… it’s terrible for your health.
And, unfortunately, lots of the sleep meds on the market either don’t work, don’t work for long, or can make your problems worse.
Fortunately, there’s an easy, drug-free way to help prepare your body for perfect sleep.
And it all starts with your belly.
I’m talking about a group of specific fibers known as prebiotics.
You have probably heard of PRO-biotics, which are the friendly bacteria found in fermented foods like yogurt and sauerkraut. Probiotics inhabit your digestive tract and are collectively known as your microbiome.
The prebiotic fibers act as food for the microorganisms that live in our digestive tracts. The more prebiotics you have, the healthier your microbiome.
And that has a lot to do with how well you sleep.
In a new study, published in the journal Scientific Reports, the research team found that feeding our digestive bugs good prebiotic fibers has powerful effects on our brains and our behavior (including sleep).
The research study found that people who were on a prebiotic supplement spent more time in restorative non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep than people who didn’t take the supplement.
The people on prebiotics had substantially different metabolites in their guts (such as fatty acid, sugars, and steroids) and these influence our behavior and improve our sleep.
Those friendly bacteria bugs need support and prebiotics are exactly what the doctor ordered.
The best prebiotic fiber is a molecule called inulin and is found in leeks, artichokes, and onions.
Load up on these foods, or consider trying a prebiotic supplement.
You may find yourself sleeping much better in no time.
