The REAL “Skinny” on Saturated Fat (Shocking)
Oh, mainstream medicine… will it ever get anything right?
Again, they’re trotting out the tired old line, FAT IS BAD FOR YOU!
But this latest mistake, however, is truly embarrassing.
Because, as always, there’s MORE to the story.
Don’t worry—I’m going to give you “the skinny” on fat… and tell you exactly what the mainstream has gotten wrong (yet again).
A recent study presented at the European Society of Cardiology annual meeting claims that saturated fat caused an uptick in heart disease.
There’s only one problem… IT DIDN’T.
Normally when I tear apart a study, I have to dig deep to find the mistakes deep inside the data.
But not this time.
Here’s what the research team had to say about their own data: “the results DID NOT find a clear link between total saturated fat and cardiovascular disease risk.”
Then why are they so up in arms about saturated fat?
Just wait…
Next, they said “if a person increases their consumption of saturated fat from meat by five percent, total cardiovascular disease risk rises by 19 percent.”
That’s already wishy-washy enough: you only have heart problems IF you increase your saturated fat intake by five percent.
But then they go on to say that the link did not hold up AGAIN after accounting for body mass index (BMI).
If you look at how much weight a person carries according to their BMI, and adjust the data for that, then there is NO RELATIONSHIP between saturated fats and heart disease.
On top of that, the data showed that if the participants got saturated fats from dairy food, their risk of heart disease actually DECREASED.
Clearly, something else is going on… saturated fats are NOT the problem.
Long-time readers of Living Well Daily know that I don’t think there is any problem with red meats and saturated fats, in fact, saturated fats are very stable and don’t oxidize, unlike those from vegetable oils.
Heart disease comes from eating two much of two things: sugar and vegetable oil. Both increase inflammation and expand your waistline, upping your risk of a heart attack or stroke.
If you really want to take care of your heart, avoid those two non-foods and get some exercise.
