The TRUTH About Salt and Your Heart
Ask your mainstream doc about foods you should avoid and they will start with the same one every time: salt.
But I’m here to tell you that’s simply not true.
Salt plays a key role in your muscle and heart health.
And despite what conventional medicine says, research shows that it’s perfectly safe for your heart, too.
Here’s what you need to know.
A new study, published in the medical journal The Lancet, looked at the eating habits of 94,000 people between that ages of 35 and 70.
The researchers found that salt intake IS NOT liked to increased risk of heart disease or stroke until people consume over five grams a day.
And that’s about 3 teaspoons of sea salt, which is more than enough to enhance ALL of the foods you love.
For years, I’ve said that it’s not salt that’s the problem.
That’s because salt is often accompanied bymany other junk foods like trans fats, preservatives, and other chemicals.
So, blaming heart disease on salt is a mistake. It’s those harmful fats, sugars, and other junk that are responsible for your heart problems.
Salt is vital for proper heart function and when you eat the right type, it can even improve your blood pressure
And that’s why you should never ignore your salt cravings.
These occur because your body needs it so badly. Unlike craving sugar, salt cravings reflect your body’s need for a vital nutrient.
But here is where you need to stop and pay attention.
Table salt – like the kind you find in most stores – offers few health benefits.
And increasing your intake of salty foods like chips and French fries won’t do you any favors either.
Instead, you want to consume more healthy salts like Himalayan salt, Redmond RealSalt, or Hawaiian red salt. These salts contain heart-healthyminerals like potassium and magnesium.
