Those Memory Slips? Stop Them FOREVER

There’s nothing more annoying than when you can’t seem to find the right word.

You know what you want to say… but you just can’t get it out of your mouth.

You feel blocked.

Most people call this a “tip-of-the-tongue problem”… but scientists call it aphasia.

As we get older these “aphasia” episodes become more common… and FRUSTRATING.

There is good news, though: researchers have recently found a way to make those tip-of-the-tongue moments a of thing of the past.

And you can get started right away.

A new study, published in the journal Scientific Reports, says you can reduce these “tip-of-the-tongue” moments by doing more aerobic exercise.

King’s College in London conducted a small study of 28 volunteers in their late 60s and early 70s.

The older adults who had better fitness levels experienced a lot less tip-of-the-tongue moments – often half as many as their peers whose fitness was worse.

The scientists discovered that tip-of-the-tongue problems are linked with the atrophy of grey matter in the left insula cortex — an area of the brain often associated with memory.

It didn’t take much exercise to make a difference.

Moderate and vigorous physical activity is well known to increase grey matter in areas of the brain associated with movement, speech, and memory. Exercise is also linked to improved blood flow and brain health.

But exercise is only part of the solution. There is much more you can do to treat your brain well.

  • Eat a diet high in vegetables and good proteins.
  • Avoid processed foods and foods with too much sugar and vegetable oils. These increase inflammation in the body – which is deadly to your brain.
  • Keep your blood sugar under control. Blood sugar and brain health are closely tied together. If you need help controlling blood sugar, look to supplements that contain chromium and berberine.
  • Eat good fats. The very best fat you can put in your body are the omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil). Not only does your brain need these oils to build a healthy brain, but fish oils also tamp down runaway inflammation.
  • Mitochondrial support. The energy-producing centers of our cells (mitochondria) need certain nutrients to keep our brains working well throughout our lives.  Be sure to include CoQ10, alpha lipoic acid, astaxanthin, selenium, and vitamin E in your supplement routine.
