Top 4 Mood-Destroying Foods

It’s all too common this time of year.

You go to a holiday party or a neighborhood get-together and shorty after you don’t just feel terrible… you’re in a really bad mood, too.

You see, the foods you eat can REALLY impact your mood.

But if you know what to avoid (and what to eat more of), you can keep your mood merry and bright throughout this season… and always.

That’s why today, I’m going to reveal the top four foods that can DESTROY your mood.

There is a reason your stomach is sometimes called your second brain.

Your gut produces about 90% of the serotonin – the hormone responsible for helping us feel good and content – in your body.

And certain foods can interrupt the processes that help produce serotonin and other “moody” chemicals.

Let me show you the foods likely to put you in a bad mood and how to restore balance to your mind.

Dr. Scott’s Top Four Mood-Destroying Foods

#1 Diet Drinks

Diet drinks contain many artificial chemicals including artificial sweeteners. Aspartame, one of those sweeteners, contains an amino acid called phenylalanine – which has been shown to limit our production of serotonin.

#2 Sugary Snacks

Sugar is well-known to give you a boost, but that boost comes with a crash – and our moods plummet. The other problem with many sugary snacks is that they also come with artificial colors and other chemicals that can make you feel agitated and destroy your concentration.

#3 Fast Food

Fast foods are full of trans fats. These fats have been researched and shown to be associated with pessimism, depression, and aggression. Cockroaches won’t touch margarine (the mother of all trans fats) – you shouldn’t either.

#4 Chips and Nuts

On the surface these foods seem OK, but many bags of chips or cans of nuts contain Monosodium Glutamate (or MSG). MSG is a flavor enhancer commonly found in processed foods which is known to give people horrible headaches and feel weak and fatigued.

Avoiding these foods will help restore your mood and balance your gut.

But if you want to IMPROVE your mood, eat a diet that focuses on whole, fresh produce and lean meats like fish.

These foods contain special antioxidants and nutrients that can lower they type of inflammation that interferes with serotonin production.
