[WARNING] Immune Disease LURKING at the Beach!?

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

Oh boy, has it been a long year already!

And I don’t know about you, but my mind is turning towards vacation.

Because we all have a LOT of lost time to make up for, thanks to quarantine.

But if your vacation plans have anything to do with the beach, then you might want to pay close attention.

There’s a threat lurking in the beautiful sand and surf… and I’m not talking about Jaws.

Researchers have found this immune disease trigger at the beach…

And it could do more than just ruin your vacation.

*****

I’m talking about ticks.

Ticks are carriers of Lyme disease — a horrible condition that’s nearly impossible to treat — which creates many different health issues, often lasting for years.

But a new research study published in the Journal of Applied and Environmental Microbiology found that ticks don’t just hide out in the deep forest… they can also be found near beaches.

The study looked specifically in Northern California, and discovered that there were tons of ticks hiding out in the dunes and scrubby areas of the beach…

Exactly the areas you walk through to get to the sand.

And if the researchers found them on beaches in California, they’re most certainly at other beaches.

The Centers for Disease Control estimates nearly 480,000 people are diagnosed and treated for Lyme disease each year.

So, what can you do?

Whenever you come home from a wooded area or a beach trail, take your clothes and put them in the dryer. You can also wash and dry them if you want, they just need to be in a hot dryer for more than 20 minutes.

Then, you need to check yourself: look in your underarms, groin, backs of knees, behind your ears, and throughout your hair.

The best way to remove a tick is with small tweezers and grasping the tick’s head. Then clean the area with rubbing alcohol and soap.

Watch out for a rash – if you get one, then head to your doctor as soon as possible.
