[WARNING] What’s LURKING in Your Water?!

Dear Reader,

A neighborhood friend of mine spent 40 years working for the Water Department.

We’ve had in-depth discussions about how to purify and clean the water coming into your home.

He is convinced (and I am too) that chlorine is the only thing that gets the job done.

But just because adding chlorine to water delivers virtually bacteria and virus-free water to your tap, does not mean you should put chlorine into your body.

So what’s the solution?

Ultimately, chlorine is the most common way to sterilize water in the United States.

Chlorine allows a water company to clean the water and then send it a long way to your house and have it remain reasonably clean.

(Chlorine, by the way, does not ensure the water is free of chemicals, it’s only used to keep bacteria and other living things out of your water.)

Thing is, chlorine is a very powerful and toxic chemical (especially in high doses). Chlorine also becomes a problem in low doses when ingested over a long period of time (like drinking water daily).

But that is not the only problem with chlorine.

Recently a team of researchers from Switzerland and University of California Berkeley teamed up to assess the impact of chlorine on water toxicity levels.

What they looked at was NOT the toxicity of chlorine (this is well known) but they looked at what happens when chlorine combines with other chemicals in the water to create new toxic chemicals.

The research team’s work was published in the Journal of Environmental Science and Technology. Their study found there are many unintended consequences of having bacteria and virus-free water.

They focused in on phenols, which are chemical compounds found in nature and used in many personal care products and pharmaceuticals. Phenols are a natural (and also unnatural) part of our water.

But when phenols mix with chlorine, they produce strange new chemical compounds: some of which are extremely harmful to your health.

The research team’s experiment produced some incredible compounds… including one known as BDA, which is highly toxic and well-known carcinogen.

Since some European countries don’t use chlorine to purify their water, this has yet to be proven on a large scale in a country like ours.

BUT just because chlorine is in your water doesn’t mean it’s clean and safe for you to drinkIn fact, you mostly definitely shouldn’t. And that means you must filter your water before you drink it.

If you want to make sure you have clean, SAFE drinking water, you must use a good filter.

(The added bonus of using an in-house filter is that the water tastes great!)
