What You HAVEN’T Been Told About Steroids [WARNING!]
Dear Reader,
If you have asthma, arthritis, Crohn’s disease, a rash or just an infection – your mainstream doc is going to suggest you take steroids.
And I’m willing to bet you already know what a HORRIBLE idea that is.
So instead of taking them willingly, you go in and express your concerns about steroids.
And he’ll give you a perfectly “reasonable sounding” answer that will sound something like this:
“We used to give large doses of steroids, but we’ve learned our lessons… Now we only give you a little bit for a short time. They are perfectly safe.”
Trust me, this couldn’t be FURTHER from the truth.
Here’s why…
When steroids first came out (in the 1930s), people were giving enormous amounts to kick back inflammation. And it worked… only not for long.
Steroids have an extensive list of side effects, including nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite (and that’s just to start).
Take steroids for a long time and they cause kidney problems, liver damage, tumors, enlarged heart, high blood pressure, changes the cholesterol, thinning of bones, mood swings, weight gain, glaucoma and the list goes on and on…
So then they switched to short–term dosing.
This is what your mainstream doc will most likely push for.
And it’s because, for the last few decades, doctors have suggested low dosing for brief periods of time (two weeks or less).
This, they say, is safe.
But that is WRONG.
A new research study, published in the Annals Of Internal Medicine, found that people taking steroids for just three days had a 75 percent increase in stomach bleeding, a 99 percent increase in sepsis, and a two–and–a–half times increase in heart failure!
And those risks increase in EVERYONE taking steroids.
From those young adults… to us older folks.
This is crazy because steroids are often used for skin disorders but more commonly (recently) being used for respiratory tract infections.
Which is why I URGE you to consider all of your options before resulting to steroids. Because steroids are one of those drugs where the “treatment” is worse than the disease.
If you have to take steroids, make sure it is your last choice.
