“Z Solution” Prevents AND Shortens Colds!
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
My son called me yesterday and told me he had a cold.
Normally I wouldn’t be happy to hear that news, but in this era of COVID, I heaved a sigh of relief when he told me that’s all he had.
But my son isn’t the only one suffering – colds are making a comeback, and affecting folks everywhere.
Even if they aren’t anything serious, colds are a nuisance… and they always seem to last forever.
So, if you can find a way to end a cold – or keep from getting it, period – you should!
Well, today, I have some good news.
This “z solution” prevents AND shortens colds… and you can find it just about anywhere.
A group of researchers from Western Sydney University in Australia have come to the rescue.
The researchers, who published their work in the journal BMJ Open, found that taking extra zinc can help combat respiratory tract infections – which include colds, flu, sinusitis, pneumonia and even COVID-19.
After reviewing 28 studies of over 5,000 patients, researchers concluded that supplementing with zinc could prevent or shorten symptoms such as coughing, congestion, and sore throat.
This is because zinc is an essential mineral used for our immune systems.
Natural medicine practitioners have long suggested using zinc lozenges to keep colds and the flu at bay. And now mainstream medicine is starting to catch on.
The researchers even suggested zinc as a substitute for patients who demand a treatment but don’t need antibiotics. This is a huge problem – doctors routinely prescribe antibiotics because it is all they can offer a patient.
But now they have zinc.
Here are some other things you can do.
Dr. Scott’s Anti-Cold Program
- Eat well. I like to include lots of garlic and onions in my food during flu season. Onions and garlic have long been used for their healing properties, plus they’re a tasty addition to any meal (especially soups). There are many herbs and vitamins that can help your immune system, but make sure you get enough of them.
- Vitamin D. Take 3,000-5,000 IUs of vitamin D every day.
- Berberine, Turmeric, and Olive Leaf. These herbs help to give your immune system the boost it needs to help kick the flu out the door.
- Probiotic/Polyphenols. There is a ton of research on probiotics and immunity. I take my probiotic in a super-food blend so I get both gut health and the added antioxidant power of polyphenols from plant foods.
