5 (Surprising!) Probiotic Benefits

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

I’ll admit it, sometimes it is hard to tell if a supplement you’re taking is working or not.

This can be especially true for something like antioxidants which protect your brain. I mean, who can really feel their brain cells getting healthier?

But when it comes to probiotics, there are ways to know if they’re actually working… or if they’re all hype.

Here are 5 benefits you should see from your probiotic.

And if it’s not doing all of these, you know you’ve taking a dud.

If you’re taking a good quality probiotic, here’s what you should notice.

  1. Better mood and energy. When you’re digesting food better, you’ll probably feel a boost in your energy and your mood. This is because you’re getting more bang for your buck every time you eat, as the good probiotic bacteria help you digest your food better. Healthy bacteria also extract and create vitamins that are beneficial to us.
  2. More frequent bowel movements. Most people don’t know that about 30 percent of stool (feces) is dead bacteria. When you take a probiotic, you’re adding to the number of bacteria in your digestive tract – more healthy bacteria mean more healthy bowel movements and less constipation. Having more probiotic bacteria also means people are more regular.
  3. Calmer digestion. You should notice that taking a probiotic allows you to eat a wide variety of foods – even some you might have decided not to eat because they cause you digestive distress. That’s because one of the functions of healthy bacteria is to break down food… so, more healthy bacteria, the better your digestive process.
  4. Less gas and bloating. Bad bacteria tend to produce more gas than good bacteria. When you send a bunch of healthy bacteria into your gut, they kick out the bad bacteria, reducing your symptoms of gas and bloating.
  5. A stronger immune system. What’s the result of extracting more energy and nutrients from your food? A healthier body and immune system. A large part of your immune system is centered around your digestive tract, and when you have healthy bacteria, your immune system thrives.

P.S. A good probiotic could also help you beat chronic fatigue symptoms. Click here to find out more.
