90% of Alzheimer’s Patients Have THIS Symptom

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

If you’re a senior, Alzheimer’s disease is at the forefront of your worries.

Because without a sharp mind you can lose your memories… and your independence.

But now, you can avoid that terrifying conclusion completely.

Researchers have discovered one simple sign that 90 percent of Alzheimer’s patients have.

And once you know what it is, you can HALT it in its tracks.

As it turns out, losing your sense of smell is a symptom of Alzheimer’s disease.

While it’s made the news as a sure sign of COVID-19, it could also indicate the beginning of memory loss.

The research team discovered that amyloid-beta—the toxic proteins found in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients—migrates to the part of your brain that controls your olfactory system (your sense of smell).

For the study, researchers tested mice who had large clusters of amyloid-beta proteins in their brain, as well as outward expressions of typical Alzheimer’s symptoms.

You may be wondering… how do you test a mouse’s sense of smell?

The researchers actually hid food and then watched to see if the mice could find it by smell. Then, they tested various smells to see what the mice responded to.

And it turned out how they thought it would: the mice had a lot of trouble locating the food by smell.

They also found that not only was the olfactory region full of amyloid-beta proteins, it also had a much lower rate of neuron regeneration. You see, your brain cells are constantly dying and re-growing… but Alzheimer’s disease and aging both slow this process down, which causes memory loss.

So what’s the bottom line if you’re experiencing loss of smell?

First, get a COVID-19 test to rule this out. Then, if your test comes back negative, make sure you ask your doctor for a workup of your brain.
