Supercharge Weight Loss in 4 SECONDS!? (Amazing!)
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
Some things in life just sound too good to be true… yet they are!
After all, we got an effective COVID-19 vaccine in less than a year, and soon you’ll be able to hug your grandkids again…
Who’d have thunk!
And now researchers have made another breakthrough that sounds nearly unbelievable.
It turns out, all it takes is just 4 seconds of this activity a day to supercharge weight loss, lower your triglycerides, and more!
Believe it or not, it’s just as easy as it sounds.
If you’re a couch potato, you’ll want to listen up.
It turns out, sitting is the new smoking… but you can fight back against its life-shortening effects.
Here’s the thing: even folks like me who run every day can’t outrun the harmful effects of sitting.
That is because it’s not HOW MUCH you exercise but HOW OFTEN you get up out of your chair or couch.
A new study published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise found eight young healthy volunteers who liked to sit around (who wouldn’t like to get paid for that!).
On the first day of the experiment, the participants simply lounged around for six hours.
On the second day, they got up from sitting each hour and engaged in four seconds of intense exercise (five times) on an exercise bike. That’s 20 seconds of total exercising time per hour.
What the researchers found was that these tiny bits of intense activity are enough to protect your body from the worst effects of our addiction to sitting.
Four seconds doesn’t sound like much, but the results were amazing.
The day after exercising, the participants burned MORE fat and had lower triglycerides and other cardiovascular measurements in their blood.
In other words, short bursts of exercise undid the adverse effects of sitting.
How can you do this at home?
Every time you see your clock hit the top of an hour – say 1 o’clock, or 4 o’clock – get up and move around. Not everyone can do intense exercise, but taking the stairs or walking briskly around the house still counts.
