Relieve Chronic Pain with “Flower Power”

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

Pain is no joke, especially for people with chronic conditions.

No one likes to be in pain, but those convenient over-the-counter remedies often have horrible side effects. And not only that, they can do lasting damage to your liver, kidneys, and stomach.

And the drugs that your mainstream doc gives you are even worse: they’re extremely addictive and can even be life-threatening.

But as always, nature has the answer…

A new study has revealed a way to relieve chronic pain… and it’s all thanks to “flower power.”

*****

Pinwheel flower has long been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine to stop pain.

And now, new research shows why it’s so effective.

A recent study from the journal Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy discovered a plant-derived compound called conolidine which is so powerful that it could eventually take the place of opioids.

You see, the pain control system inside your body uses little proteins called opioid peptides. These natural opioid peptides fit into receptors throughout your body to calm your pain.

And now, researchers have discovered one pain receptor that throws a wrench in the whole process: ACKR3.

ACKR3 grabs on to the opioid peptides before other receptors can, which means you can pop all the pills you want, but you won’t get relief.

But conolidine can change that.

In the study, conolidine attached to ACKR3, allowing the body’s opioid peptides to attach to pain-relieving receptors. The end result: precious relief from pain.

While conolidine is not yet available as a supplement, this study will hopefully lead to it becoming one.

In the meantime, try curcumin or bromelain to help lower levels of painful inflammation throughout the body.
