[LADIES] REDUCE Gout Risk 75% with This “Prudent” Secret

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

If you’re a senior woman concerned about gout, you’re not alone.

Gout affects 9.2 million Americans each year and women are a large percentage of this statistic.

Unfortunately, the mainstream has NOTHING that’s going to help you in any real way.

Sure, they can give you drugs to calm inflammation, but those are often full of side effects worse than the gout symptoms themselves!

But now, there’s a way you could REDUCE your gout risk 75 percent… and it starts with this “prudent” secret.

A new study in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine found that eating differently can dramatically lower your risk of gout.

Researchers investigated the diets of women in the massive ongoing Nurses’ Health Study.

And they found that women who followed one of two diets reduced gout risk 75 percent if they followed the Prudent diet – especially if they had a normal body mass index (BMI).

The Prudent diet consists of fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grains, nuts, low-fat dairy, and seafood. It rules out red meat and processed foods.

But that wasn’t the only diet that had an impact on gout risk.

The women in the study who followed the DASH diet had a 68 percent decreased risk of gout.

The DASH diet was originally designed for people with high blood pressure. It’s a high-vegetable diet focused on low fat dairy, fish, beans, and nuts.

Long-time readers will know I’m NOT a fan of low-fat anything. Our best fats are the most stable, which are found in whole-fat dairy products as well as olive oil and avocado oil.

But, what these diets do is pull people away from processed foods – one of the main causes of gout.

In fact, one of the worst offenders in processed foods is high fructose corn syrup.

Sugary drinks and especially drinks that contain high fructose corn syrup are strongly associated with gout risk.

So, your diet should avoid high fructose corn syrup (and sugar in general) and focus on increasing your vegetable intake.

Here are some more tips:

  • Celery seed extract. You can get this as a pill or drink celery juice. Celery seed extract has been shown to help remove uric acid (the cause of gout) from your body.
  • Black cherry. This is a time-honored way to reduce the symptoms of gout. You want to choose pills or unsweetened cherry juice (because it contains fructose).
  • Fish oil. Taking fish oil doesn’t work very fast, but if you’re prone to getting gout, you should be taking it every day.
  • Magnesium. This mineral can help pull uric acid out of your body.
