25% of Americans MISSING This Mineral?

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

My readers are smart people.

If I were to ask you what to do to keep your heart healthy, I’m betting you could list a ton of nutrients.

The same is true if I ask about bone health. You know what you need to do. (And why it probably won’t involve calcium.)

But what if I were to ask you what nutrient could help BOTH your heart and your bones?

I’ll give you a hint. It’s NOT a common mineral… and 25 percent of Americans are missing it.

I’m talking about copper.

Most people don’t even think about their copper intake, but considering all the things copper does in our bodies, it’s a wonder.

You need copper for:

  • maintaining a strong immune system,
  • proper energy production,
  • making red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout your body,
  • building healthy nerves,
  • improving essential brain functions.

And what most people don’t know is that copper is also essential for producing connective tissue. Your bones rely on connective tissue as a sort of scaffolding which it builds on. Copper is also essential for increased bone mineral density.

Not getting enough copper has also been linked to increased heart disease risk, as well as high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Remember, if you have a digestive disease (like celiac disease or irritable bowel syndrome), or have had weight loss surgery then your need for copper increases.

It’s important that you make sure you are getting some in your diet every day.

You can get more copper by eating shellfish, shiitake mushrooms, beans, nuts, potatoes, organ meat like liver and kidneys, dark leafy greens, and dark chocolate.

P.S. This recipe gives you a hearty dose of copper while also soothing annoying coughs. Find out how to make it right here.
