Don't Start Your Dishwasher Until You Read THIS

For YEARS, modern medicine essentially ignored the gastrointestinal tract.

Sure, it’s where you digest and absorb your food. But that was the end of the story.

They were clueless about how intertwined our digestive system is with our OVERALL well-being.

We now understand our gut is so closely linked to our health that it’s impossible to STAY healthy if your gut is a mess.

Your microbiome is a collection of microorganisms that live in your gut. Made up mostly of bacteria, it digests food, protects against bad bugs, and interacts with your immune system.

A healthy, well-balanced microbiome isn’t just necessary for a well-functioning digestive system. It’s ALSO critical for your overall health.

But our guts take a real beating in today’s modern world. They’re under constant assault, from processed foods to antibiotics and modern sanitation practices.

In fact, something we all do every day to PROTECT our health could actually be eating away at your microbiome.

Research has revealed a surprising threat to our gut health.

It turns out that how we clean our dishes could be harming our microbiome.

In a new study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, scientists found that our microbiomes are sensitive to ingredients used in modern dishwashing detergents.

Specifically, chemical compounds called surfactants are a threat to your gut health.

These compounds allow detergents to mix into the water so they can trap and remove dirt from the surfaces of your dishes. Surfactants help break down grease and oils, so your dishes end up looking and feeling squeaky clean.

But what we CAN’T see are the residues that are left behind.

Surfactants left on your dishes can end up in your food and inside you. There they disrupt the mucous layer that lines and protects your gut.

Plus, antibacterial substances found in many products can directly attack your microbiome. And the synthetic fragrances in them contain harmful substances, including phthalates which animal studies show can harm gut health too.

You can avoid many problems with automatic dishwasher soap by choosing ones that are 100 percent plant- and mineral based and have no synthetic fragrances.

Keep in mind less is more and use these products sparingly. And consider running dishes through a second soap-free cycle to remove extra residues. Handwashing your dishes will likely leave less residue behind as well.

Finally, make sure to keep your gut microbiome in tip-top shape.

  • Eat plenty of fermented foods. These include unpasteurized sauerkraut and pickles, yogurt, and, for the adventurous, miso, natto, and kimchi.
  • Take a good probiotic. I like to rotate probiotics to get a wide variety of species.
  • Eat plenty of fiber-rich prebiotics. Probiotics need food, and fiber is one of the best ways to feed them. Eat plenty of fresh, raw vegetables to get your fiber.
  • Live a healthy-gut lifestyle. Prioritize sleep, reduce stress levels, exercise, and avoid ultra-processed foods.

Protect your microbiome so it can continue to protect YOU.

P.S. Scientists from the University of Illinois have discovered that a daily serving of THIS delicious fruit can help replenish your microbiome, restoring gut health.
