Kidney problem risk reduced by eating more of THIS

People ask me all the time about protecting their brain or heart health. And everyone wants tips on how to tame blood pressure and control blood sugar.

But no one ever asks how to protect their kidneys.

Here’s why that’s a BIG problem…

If you were to look at everyone in the United States right now, you would find that:

  • Seven percent have heart disease (coronary heart disease).
  • Eight percent have diabetes.
  • Ten percent of people over 65have Alzheimer’s.

I admit those numbers ARE disturbing. They mean we DO need to take steps to protect our heart and brain health. And we should be looking for ways to head off diabetes.

But something is missing from that list. Do you know how many folks have kidney problems?

Around fifteen percent of Americans are battling kidney disease.

That’s DOUBLE the number of folks diagnosed with heart disease, which has an entire month dedicated to educating us about it.

In other words, our poor kidneys don’t get any respect. And yet chronic kidney disease can lead to kidney failure and death.

Luckily, scientists have uncovered a simple way to take a healthy chunk out of your kidney disease risk. And it starts at the dinner table.

Recent research published in the British Medical Journal revealed an easy (and delicious) dinner table trick for dialing down your kidney problem risk.

Serve more omega-3-rich cold-water fish.

The researchers analyzed 19 studies pooling the data from 25,570 participants to confirm that HIGHER omega-3 levels are linked to LOWER kidney risks.

Higher EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) levels in the blood were associated with a healthy eight percent drop in the risk of developing chronic kidney disease.

Now I get it. Eight percent may not sound like much at first. But it actually represents a massive number of people.

Currently, 37 million people are battling chronic kidney disease. If just eight percent of them had avoided those kidney problems, the lives of up to three million people could have been saved.

Omega-3s aren’t only good for kidney health either. EPA and DHA also support brain, heart, and immune system health.

If you‘re a fish fan, I suggest eating it once or twice a week. But also consider taking a fish oil supplement to ensure you’re get enough EPA and DHA.

I generally recommend taking between one and three grams of fish oil daily.

P.S. Overindulging in convenience foods can do serious damage to your health. But research has uncovered a solution of sorts. Dodge processed food damage with THIS easy nutrient hack.
