"MIRACLE Molecule" RESISTS Aging?
The science of aging is growing at breakneck speed. It seems like hardly a week passes when we don’t learn something new.
And now, one study in particular could upend everything we THINK we know about aging.
Most importantly, it could unlock a way to “SLOW” it down….
And, incredibly, it may even help extend your life.
Researchers say this age-fighting solution could reverse some of the damage we see from cognitive decline, stroke, spinal injuries, and more.
Plus, it could help protect us from deadly neurodegenerative diseases.
The key is a molecule called butyrate.
Never heard of it? I’m not surprised. Most people… even some doctors… never have.
Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid produced by the microbes in your gut. And typically, it doesn’t get a whole lot of attention.
But that could be about to change in a BIG way.
Mouse experiments reveal how this compound could play a vital role in aging AND protecting us from diseases that often rack up as we age.
The researchers found that older mice maintained the ability to produce this critical fatty acid. Then, they transferred those microbes into young mice that had NO bacteria of their own.
What happened next is the game-changer…
Those microbes from the old mice immediately began cranking out butyrate. And that, in turn, triggered the formation of critical new neurons in the brain.
Then, they tried to cut out the middleman. Instead of giving the young mice those microbes, they gave them a direct shot of butyrate.
Once again, the molecule went straight to work, making those all-important neurons.
In fact, the results were so promising the researchers believe it will work the other way around, too. They think that increasing butyrate in older mice could do even more… helping to regenerate neurons to fight aging and chronic disease.
And that could mean higher butyrate levels could help older humans, too. Which, to be honest, isn’t a stretch when you consider what we ALREADY know about this stuff!
Studies have found that raising butyrate could help…
- control blood sugar,
- fight cancer, and
- slash inflammation
More research is needed, of course. But there are no real downsides to putting butyrate to work for you.
The researchers behind the new study say they believe butyrate can be added to food to create a new class of age-defying functional foods.
But you don’t need to wait around for them to add it to food because you can already get it from what you’re eating.
Another study found that an important class of carbohydrates can trigger your gut bacteria to produce more butyrate.
They’re called resistant starches and act as PREbiotics (food for the friendly germs inside your body), so the bugs can pump out more butyrate.
Some of the best resistant starches include green bananas and plantains, lentils, and just about all of the beans used in soups and stews, as well as oats and certain nuts such as almonds and cashews.
And another thing…
