Common "Kitchen Cure" SLASHES COVID Hospitalization!?

When modern medicine lets us down, we often turn to tried-and-true home solutions handed down over generations.

And with COVID-19 STILL causing trouble and new variants popping up, many folks are turning to an oldie but goodie for symptom relief.

For decades, grandmothers and moms have recommended this old-fashioned cold and flu “cure.” It’s used to soothe sore throats, ease congestion, dial down coughs, and get you feeling better FAST.

Now, scientists say it could ALSO reduce your risk of being hospitalized with COVID-19.

I’m talking about the good ol’ saltwater gargle.

This simple solution has stood the test of time, easing pesky sore throats and helping fight infections.

Now, even reluctant scientists have to admit this home-grown “cure” has merit.

Recent research confirms that gargling with salt water can potentially target viruses in the throat, making you feel better.

And, incredibly, it may even help in the fight against SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) infections.

A new study presented at this year’s annual meeting of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI) shed light on the potential benefit of gargling with salt water.

The researchers recruited volunteers between 18 and 65 who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. They were then randomly divided into a low-salt or high-salt group.

Four times a day for 14 days, the participants gargled with either a…

  • low-dose saline solution made by dissolving 13 grams of salt in 8 ounces of warm water
  • high-dose saline solution made by dissolving 6 grams of salt in 8 ounces of warm water

The rates of hospitalization in the low-saline (18.5 percent) and high-saline (21.4 percent) groups were SIGNIFICANTLY lower than the rate in a comparison group (58.8 percent) who tested positive but DIDN’T gargle.

The findings aren’t a complete surprise. After all, earlier research has already found that rinsing out nasal and throat passages could reduce the severity of viral infections by reducing viral loads.

More research is needed, of course. However, these findings suggest that gargling with salt water could have a positive impact on preventing more severe cases of COVID-19.

So, the next time you feel yourself coming down with something, grab a glass of warm water and your saltshaker and get to gargling.

You’ve got nothing to lose but that ticklish throat. And you could end up reducing your risk of more severe illness and hospitalization at the same time.

P.S. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen saltwater used in the fight against viral infections. CLICK HERE for the scoop.
