Delicious Drink SLASHES Bowel Cancer Risk

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of beating cancer.

You’re on top of the world. After all, you’ve literally escaped death, and you have the endorphins surging through your body to prove it.

But after that initial high, worry can start to sneak in because remission comes with a new risk—recurrence.

With bowel cancer, the risk of recurrence within five years hovers between seven and 42 percent, depending on the stage of cancer you had.

So, naturally, you want to do everything you can to REDUCE that risk until you reach the “safe zone” of complete remission for five years.

New research revealed a PLEASANT step you can take that could help get you there. Scientists uncovered a link between a delicious drink and a dramatically lower risk of bowel cancer recurrence.

A new study found that your daily caffeine fix could be the key to dramatically lowering your risk of bowel cancer recurrence.

That’s right—simply indulging in your favorite morning ritual could help you fight of the most terrifying diseases out there.

The researchers uncovered a huge 30 percent reduction in the likelihood of bowel cancer returning in coffee drinkers.

It’s an incredible number when you consider that up to a third of people who have already battled this nightmare might have to face it again.

This was obviously an observational study, not a cause-and-effect type, so more research is needed. But with such a massive number at play, there’s clearly something positive going on here.

So, if you’re a coffee fan (as long as your doctor is on board) go ahead and keep up your GOOD habit. It could be the thing that helps get you over the hump into the “complete remission” zone.

But why stop there? Avoiding a few OTHER foods could help protect your bowels and potentially reduce your cancer recurrence risk even further…

  • Processed meats: We need more research on this, but there’s some evidence that processed meats like hot dogs, bacon, sausages, and deli meats are linked to a higher risk of bowel cancer. If you’re in bowel cancer remission, I would consider dropping processed meats from your menu a “better safe than sorry” change to the diet.
  • Alcohol: Drinking alcohol can seriously increase your chances of developing bowel cancer. There is a “dose-response” with alcohol; the more you drink, the more at risk you are. It’s not worth the risk.
  • Sugary drinks: Soda, sports drinks, and other sugar-laden beverages might taste like liquid happiness, but they’re not doing your gut any favors. Consuming too many sweet drinks is associated with an increased risk of bowel cancer.
  • Bad fats: Who doesn’t love a good greasy burger or a heaping plate of fries? But the truth is a diet high in unhealthy trans fats could be setting the stage for bowel cancer. Avoid “seed” oils (canola, corn, peanut, and sunflower) and deep-fried foods.
  • Refined grains: White bread, pastries, and other goodies made with refined grains might be delicious, but they’re not bowel-friendly. The research is mixed, but some studies have linked eating a lot of refined grain foods with a higher risk for bowel and other gastric cancers.

So, my fellow coffee lover, raise your mug with me in a toast to lowering cancer risk.
