BELLY Secret Could EASE COVID-19 Severity?
I bet you’re sick and tired of hearing about COVID-19.
In fact, you were probably fed up with it YEARS ago. Most of us were.
But the reality is we’re stuck with this bug right now… and likely for a long time to come.
In fact, most infectious disease experts say we’ll likely have to add COVID-19 to the list of yearly infections we battle. It will take a seat alongside the common cold and flu.
And similar to those other infections, we’ll need to brace for a COVID season every year.
But you don’t have to feel like you’re a sitting duck waiting around to get sick this fall and winter. Instead, you can be proactive.
Start with all the standard precautions we know by heart, such as frequent handwashing and social distancing. But there’s one more easy but effective trick you can try.
Doing so could make your body far less friendly to any circulating bugs as we head into the fall and winter months.
And it’s something you should be doing anyway.
I’ve discussed the importance of gut health here in Living Well Daily many times. Let’s quickly recap some of the MANY reasons you should focus on your belly bugs.
A well-balanced microbiome (the sum of all your gut bugs) is linked to the following:
- More stable blood sugar
- Better heart health
- Improved kidney health
- Healthier brain function
- Stronger immunity
- Good weight control
- Great skin health
- And, of course, better digestive health
Improving your gut health can make YOU healthier from head to toe. Your body will be better prepared to battle with threats of all sorts.
And you’ll be less likely to get severely sick when you do come down with an illness.
But you don’t need to take my word for it alone. A team of experts recently published a study in the journal Pathogens that reached the same conclusion.
The researchers found that having a more diverse microbiome can improve your immune system and help fight infections like COVID-19.
To step up your gut-bug game with a more diverse microbiome, you must introduce different kinds of healthy bacteria to your system.
The best way to do that is through low-sugar fermented foods such as naturally fermented sauerkraut, yogurt, kefir, aged cheeses (including Swiss, provolone, Gouda, cheddar, and edam), miso, kimchi, and kombucha.
Taking a quality probiotic supplement is a good idea too.
