Is Coffee or Tea Healthier? The FINAL Answer
There are two sides to America that are locked in an epic battle. And it seems like they’ll NEVER come to an agreement.
No, I’m NOT referring to our contentious politics…
I’m talking about coffee versus tea lovers.
Let’s finally put an END to this constant clash. We’ll toss them both in the ring and let them duke it out.
Cue the announcer:
“In this corner, originally from Ethiopia, is the tough bean we call coffee.”
“In the other corner, originally from South China and Northern India, is the smooth leaf we know as tea.”
Coffee has a higher caffeine content, which increases concentration, improves cognitive performance, and even enhances athletic performance. And it boosts heart health by lowering cholesterol and supporting healthy blood pressure.
Java ALSO contains strong antioxidants that can reduce the risk of…
- depression,
- Alzheimer’s,
- and Parkinson’s.
On the other hand, tea, is also chock-full of powerful antioxidants. And depending on how you brew it, tea can have a lot MORE than coffee.
Tea also contains theanine, which accounts for its mellower buzz and ability to trigger relaxation.
Tea has been linked to…
- weight loss and,
- lower anxiety.
And, of course, both beverages are associated with lower diabetes and cancer risks.
So, which do YOU choose? Are you a Java Junkie or a Teetotaler?
The truth is there’s nothing to fight about. Because you really can’t go wrong either way.
Coffee is more likely to rocket you awake, while tea is like a gentle nudge. So I drink coffee in the morning for an extra boost and tea in the afternoon to help me wind down.
The two drinks are very similar in their health benefits. So it all boils down to the caffeine content you’re looking for. And in my case, I get the best of both worlds because I choose BOTH.
P.S. I get asked a lot by coffee-drinking patients if they should be drinking light or dark roast. CLICK HERE for the surprising answer.
