[LADIES] SHRED Fat… with Chocolate!?
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
Things that taste good must be bad for you, right?
Not so fast!
I’m happy to report that’s NOT always true… especially when it comes to chocolate.
If you’ve been sneaking little bits of chocolate, thinking it’s bad for your health, then I have some great news…
Especially if you’ve already been through menopause.
A new study has discovered that chocolate could help women lose weight, plus lower blood sugar and eliminate cravings.
There’s just one catch…
*****
Snacking on chocolate may sound like the opposite thing to do if you’re looking to lose weight.
But a new study of postmenopausal women found that a morning nibble of concentrated chocolate may be the answer to a faster metabolism.
For the study, volunteers ate 100g of chocolate (roughly half a cup) daily, either one hour before bed or one hour after waking up.
And the researchers found that the time of day you eat chocolate has a big effect on what happens in your body.
It shocked the study team when they found that morning chocolate INCREASED fat-burning and DECREASED blood sugar levels throughout the day.
Not only that, morning chocolate also sped up the volunteers’ metabolism… the next day!
The researchers concluded that morning chocolate could influence hunger, appetite, gut health, and even improve sleep – all of which can lead to better weight control.
It makes sense. Chocolate contains many different nutrients—including iron, magnesium, copper, manganese, potassium, zinc and selenium—that help to promote a feeling of fullness.
And good-quality cocoa is packed with flavonoids, including catechin, epicatechin, and procyanidins, all of which add to its antioxidant power.
The key to getting all the blood sugar control benefits from chocolate is to eat as dark a chocolate as your taste buds will allow. Choose a chocolate with as much cocoa content as you can (over 60 percent is the best).
Milk chocolate is NOT what you are looking for—it’s packed with sugar and inflammation-causing oils that will skyrocket your blood sugar and pack on the pounds.
