Which Medical Tests You REALLY Need (Doctor’s Secret)

Think about this for a second…

Almost every time you enter the doctor’s office, you will have a test.

Many of these tests are useless… your doctor is just trying to cover his butt.

But you still end up getting the tests and paying for them.

So what tests do you REALLY need?

I’ve compiled a list of the most important – and it could end up saving you a lot of time and money.

It can be tricky deciding which tests you need.

And obviously, if there are certain symptoms of a particular disease, then you need to get tested for that.

But if you just want to check up on your general health, these are the tests for you:

  • Inflammation Test: C-reactive protein is a test for inflammation. Since inflammation plays an important role in so many diseases, you need to insist on this test. Back when I started recommending this test years ago, most doctors didn’t know about it. Now that they do, it’s easier to get. If your C-reactive protein is less than 1.0 mg/L then your risk of heart disease (and other inflammatory conditions) is considered low; if it is between 1.0 and 3.0, the risk is average; and if it is above 3.0, the risk is considered high.
  • Vitamin D: This test is also much more common these days, but you might still have to ask for it. Vitamin D is important for your bone health, but also for your heart, your immune system, your brain…and so much more. While some docs will say your test should be over 20 ng/mL, I like over 50 ng/mL. And remember to never take vitamin D without also taking vitamin K.
  • Hemoglobin A1C: You now see this test on advertisements for drugs. I’m happy that people know more about this test. Hemoglobin A1C or HA1C measures your long-term blood sugar control. Not only does this help with diabetes, but also heart disease, kidney disease, and brain function. You want your HA1C to be under 4.5.
  • Omega Index: You may take omega-3 fatty acids (and I mention them in almost every post I write). But your genetics, your gender, your weight, age, and lifestyle can all change how well you absorb this important nutrient. That’s where the Omega Index test is helpful. Your Omega Index should be higher than 4%, but over 8% is best.
