Ocean Organism KILLS Resistant Cancer Cells

Cancer treatments essentially come in two “flavors.”

There are the sickening meds that poison the cancerous cells (and sometimes the healthy ones, too), like chemotherapy.

Or there are the physical “slash and burn” options such as surgery and radiation.

There are times that either or both might be necessary. But let’s face it, cancer treatments haven’t changed much in the last 100 years.

And we deserve new and BETTER options.

But what if there ALREADY was one? A way to harness a natural cycle all cells go through anyway? A method that basically lulls cancer cells to sleep FOREVER?

Sounds like a dream, right?

Well, cutting-edge research has revealed this doesn’t have to be a fantasy, thanks to a strange ocean organism that targets cancer cells.

And best of all, it’s completely natural.

Our bodies are incredible machines. They typically run through their daily routines like clockwork, never missing a beat.

In fact, every single cell in your body has a sort of built-in “clock.” It essentially counts down to its programmed death date then the cell quietly expires and is replaced by a fresh, new one.

This programmed cell death is called apoptosis. And it’s an excellent system… when it works.

But troublemaker cancer cells flip the off switch on their internal clock allowing themselves to become immortal. In fact, some of the most exciting research on curing cancer is focused on tricking cancer cells into turning that clock back on.

That’s where the strange, deep-ocean sea sponge enters the picture.

This odd-looking tubular animal lives its entire life stuck to one spot on a coral reef. It filters water for nutrition and never moves.

But as unassuming as the sea sponge is, it’s hiding an incredible secret. It turns out sea sponges contain cancer-fighting molecules.

For a study published in the journal Marine Drugs, researchers extracted a molecule known as 3,10-dibromofascaplysin from a breed of sea sponge called Fascaplysinopsis reticulata.

They then introduced the molecule to treatment-resistant prostate cancer cells to see what it would do. And boy, oh boy, did the extract deliver the WOW factor.

The 3,10-dibromofascaplysin flipped the switch back on in the “immortal” cancer cells, and they promptly kicked the bucket (programmed cell death or apoptosis).

Even better, unlike chemotherapy, the sea sponge molecule didn’t harm any surrounding healthy cells!

The researchers are currently working to make changes to the new-found molecule. (Unfortunately, that likely means they aim to create a patented cash-cow drug from it.)

But, while hitting your local health food store to pick up some sea-sponge extract isn’t in the cards right now, OTHER promising natural solutions can dial down your cancer risks.

  • Immune-boosting mushrooms. Medicinal mushrooms help boost the immune system, reduce the spread of cancer cells, and increase cancer cell death.
  • Curcumin. Curcumin is an extract of the spice turmeric, which is a natural anti-inflammatory and provides antioxidant protection.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids. Essential fatty acids, which are found in fish oil, are lacking in most folk’s diets. Studies show these natural anti-inflammatories may help reduce the risk for certain cancers. A supplement is a good idea if you’re not eating fish two to three times a week.
  • Polyphenols. These phytonutrients are found in fresh fruits and vegetables. These compounds can inhibit cancer cells and induce apoptosis. Most people don’t get enough of them.
  • Vitamin E, selenium, CoQ10, and astaxanthin.  These powerful antioxidants target damaging free radicals reducing the risk of cells becoming cancerous.

P.S. Each time we reach a new milestone in our understanding of cancer, it should be celebrated. In this case, ovarian cancer takes center stage. And the milestone that’s starting to come into focus has to do with food. CLICK HERE for the whole story.
