[SENIORS] Could This “Soundtrack” ERASE Dementia Symptoms!?
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
If your loved one suffers from dementia, you know how hard their life can be.
The daily struggle with depression and anxiety… their fear of losing even MORE of their memory… the sleepless nights… all add up to a heartbreaking experience (for both of you).
As their friend or caregiver, you know to keep things simple, help them have a daily routine, remind them they’re safe, and give them a reason to laugh whenever you can.
But now there’s something that can help your efforts go even further.
Researchers have discovered that this “soundtrack” could help ERASE dementia symptoms.
As crazy as that seems, their theory is showing real-life results.

They say that smell is the strongest trigger for memory… but what about sound?
Researchers, presenting their findings at the annual meeting of the Acoustical Society of America, found that creating special soundscapes can improve the quality of life for dementia patients dramatically.
For the study, the researchers crafted a “sound schedule” for patients to listen to throughout the day.
Each patient had his or her own personalized sounds to help trigger memories, such as birdsong, the sounds of a busy kitchen, or bells.
The goal was to help the patients remember what time of day it was and where they were at.
And the results were extremely promising!
Using soundscapes improved sleep quality, and also reduced agitation, anxiety, and distress.
In fact, the personalized soundscape showed it could improve quality of life so much that regular treatment could potentially replace drugs given to calm and relieve stress.
While the researchers used their own software, there are a variety of machines you can buy which can help you create a soundscape for someone who can use it.
You can also try playing your loved one’s favorite albums, movie soundtracks, or nature sounds. Just stick to a schedule, like the study did, for best results.
