Stop Chronic Inflammation from Aging You FASTER

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

Maybe it showed up for the first time during your annual checkup. Or perhaps you were feeling a bit off, so your doctor ran some bloodwork.

Either way, there it is in black and white. Your recent blood test shows you have high inflammation levels.

Your doc will likely tell you rising inflammation goes hand-in-hand with aging. He’ll claim we all suffer from chronic inflammation as we grow older, and we just have to live with it.

But he couldn’t be more wrong.

Sure, inflammation and aging DO often go hand-in-hand. But there’s a BIG difference bet ween common and normal.

In fact, many researchers believe you should flip the script. They say it’s the opposite and that INFLAMMATION is one of the main drivers of AGING.

It’s called inflammageing. And the theory makes sense.

After all, inflammation is the main driver behind many diseases of aging, such as heart disease, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, and cancer.

But the truth is, inflammation and aging don’t HAVE to go together. Many folks get through their entire lives with very low (or no) chronic inflammation. You could be one of them.

It all starts at the dinner table.

Researchers from the University of Camerino in Italy recruited 97 seniors for their new study published in the Journal of Applied Microbiology. The team ran blood tests on the volunteers at the beginning of the study, and most had elevated inflammation levels.

The participants were then split into two groups. The first group received a supplement called Synbio which contains the probiotics Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus and Lacticaseibacillus paracasei. The second group got a look-alike placebo.

After six months, the group taking the probiotic had major improvements in their gut health compared to the placebo takers.

They had…

  • a drop in inflammation levels
  • an increase in gut-friendly butyric and short-chain fatty acids
  • fewer Proeobacteria (bacteria that trigger disease and promote aging)

Plus, in the probiotic group, levels of HsCRP (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein), a marker of inflammation and cardiovascular risk, took a nosedive.

These results reinforce what we already know. Taking probiotics can help reduce inflammation and improve gut health.

To reap these good-gut-bug benefits you should eat more fermented foods such as sauerkraut, yogurt, kombucha, kefir, pickles, miso, and kimchi. Plus, consider taking a daily probiotic supplement.
