This Prescription DOUBLES Your Dementia Risk

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

If health is wealth, as they like to say, your brain is worth its weight in gold… which means you should do everything you can to protect it.

As you age, however, that gets more and more difficult.

And Big Pharma certainly isn’t doing you any favors.

One of their most popular drugs has just been found to DOUBLE your chances of dementia.

Yet it’s still being prescribed daily…

*****

Breaking research found that taking lipophilic statins dramatically increased the risk of getting Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Lipophilic statins are some of the most commonly used statins, and include:

  • atorvastatin,
  • simvastatin,
  • lovastatin,
  • fluvastatin,
  • cerivastatin,
  • pitavastatin.

Researchers began the study by dividing participants into three groups based on their cognitive abilities, cholesterol, and statin prescription use. Then, they gave them PET scans to track decline.

After looking at eight years of research, the study conductors noticed that folks taking these lipophilic statins were TWICE as likely to have dementia as those taking no statins or a different type of statin.

And the sad truth is, this doesn’t need to happen in the first place!

Reducing cholesterol levels does NOTHING to extend your life – even if your cholesterol numbers drop.

Statin drugs are senseless because they’re used to treat something that doesn’t need to be treated. The idea that high cholesterol causes heart disease is a total scam.

  • 75 percent of people who suffer from a heart attack have normal levels of cholesterol.
  • You live longer if you have higher cholesterol.
  • Dementia is also higher in people with low cholesterol.

Certainly, there are people who have too high cholesterol – but these people have REALLY high cholesterol, which is very rare.

Keeping your cholesterol AND your brain healthy starts with your diet. Eat as many good proteins, like grass-fed beef, fish, chicken, nuts and seeds, and low-starch veggies as you can. Avoid sugar and vegetable oils.

Also consider taking niacin. Vitamin B3 (niacin) has been used effectively for decades to lower cholesterol. It’s also been shown to reduce triglycerides and increase HDL (the “good”) cholesterol.
