Top COVID Symptoms Have Changed (SURPRISING!)
We’ve lived with COVID-19 for nearly three years now. That means we KNOW what it looks like, right?
Wrong.
The dominant COVID strain infecting people today doesn’t look exactly like the one that infected people last year. The virus is constantly changing. And so are the symptoms when you catch it.
Different COVID strains appear to attack the body in slightly different ways. And this triggers a wide range of symptoms.
In fact, some of today’s TOP-reported symptoms might surprise you.
Most people would say that loss of smell or taste, high fever, and difficulty breathing are the “classic” signs of a COVID infection. And those symptoms do still occur in many cases today.
But according to the latest data, muscle pain is on the rise and is now among the most commonly reported symptoms.
Doctors call these kinds of intense muscle aches myalgia. But most folks would just call them painful. They can range from mild to debilitating, with accompanying fatigue making them feel even worse.
In other words, COVID infections are starting to look less like a cold (tends to start with sneezing or a runny nose) and more like the flu (often begins with muscle aches or a headache).
According to the ZOE Health Study, which tracks COVID symptoms, the top reported complaints currently are:
- a sore throat
- a runny nose
- a blocked nose
- sneezing
- a cough without phlegm
- a headache
- a cough with phlegm
- a hoarse voice
- muscle aches and pains
- an altered sense of smell
But keep in mind this list is a moving target and will change as new strains emerge and others die off.
The important thing to remember is that just because COVID acted a certain way the last time there was a surge doesn’t mean it will act the same way the next time numbers go up.
If you’re feeling under the weather, it’s best to test. And since testing can also be problematic, test a few times to be sure of your results.
P.S. There’s plenty of evidence that repeat COVID-19 infections raise your risk for complications. But you can reduce your chances of becoming infected with any of the COVID variants (or ANY virus) by taking a few simple steps. Click here for the details.
