Ulcer Solution Harnesses the Healing Power of Citrus

No one expects to develop a foot ulcer. That goes without saying.

But if you have diabetes, the odds that you will are higher than you might expect.

In fact, 60 percent of diabetics will develop neuropathy in their feet, eventually leading to one.

However, poor glycemic control isn’t the only trigger for foot ulcers.

Bad circulation, extremely dry skin, poorly fitting shoes, or being bedridden are some of the OTHER causes of this painful condition.

Ulcers don’t just hurt, either. They can lead to a devastating foot amputation.

But a natural citrus solution could be the key to PREVENTING this worst-case scenario.

An ulcer is simply a wound that won’t heal. As I mentioned, ulcers are relatively common in people with diabetes and those who are stuck in bed (often called a “bedsore” in that case).

A new study published in the British Journal of Nutrition found that vitamin C works wonders for skin ulcers.

This common, water-soluble vitamin accelerates healing in chronic foot ulcers, preventing the need for amputation.

Half of the volunteers in the study got 500 milligrams of vitamin C, and the other half took a placebo.

The lucky folks who received the C had measurably better healing at eight weeks.

Even better, ALL of the patients in the vitamin C group went on to heal without having a foot amputated. Meanwhile, 44 percent of the people who took the placebo were STILL battling ulcers.

The results make sense. After all, we already knew being low on vitamin C slows the healing of cuts, burns, or surgeries.

Vitamin C helps fight ulcers in several key ways, including…

  • contributing to the formation of new collagen,
  • stimulating blood flow to the injury for better healing, and
  • boosting helpful immune cells.

But the implications extend beyond just this one type of wound. Keeping your vitamin C levels topped up could help speed the healing of all kinds of injuries.

Our bodies can’t produce vitamin C, so you’ll need to get it through diet or a supplement. Foods rich in vitamin C include citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits, rose hips, chili peppers, guavas, sweet yellow peppers, cantaloupe, and parsley.

Be sure to take good care of your feet… ESPECIALLY if you have diabetes. And it’s a good idea to see a podiatrist regularly.

P.S. Ditch inflammation with this POWERFUL “Light Fix.”
