Weight Loss Surgery Horror Story REVEALED

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

There’s a reason gastric bypass surgery is so appealing.

Who wants to do hours of cardio exercise and eat ONLY fruits and vegetables?

It’s perfectly understandable why you would want to choose the easy solution… and forego all of that trouble altogether!

But as they say, nothing is truly free.

There may be a bigger cost to gastric bypass than just the price tag.

In fact, researchers have discovered that bypass patients could be living a true horror story after their surgeries…

And it’s time to tell the ugly truth.

There are three main types of weight loss or bariatric surgery: Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), adjustable gastric banding (AGB), and biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (BPD/DS).

Here is what you need to know about all of them: They REDUCE your body’s ability to absorb nutrients.

In fact, studies have shown that many nutritional deficiencies are common in bariatric patients, such as iron and B vitamins (B12, B1, folate and vitamin B6). And other common deficiencies such as protein, essential fatty acids, calcium and vitamins A, C, D, K and E happen as well.

And when your body can’t get the vitamins and minerals it so desperately needs, your health can take a major nose dive.

Nutrient deficiencies are linked to deadly diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and even dementia.

If you’ve had this surgery, it’s important to understand that you can no longer get your nutritional needs met through diet alone.

This means you need to take double the amount of nutrients that a person without surgery takes.

Here’s where to start:

  • Multivitamin. I suggest that you take a multivitamin with every meal. This spreads out the dose and makes it more likely that you absorb the nutrients. You want to make sure you are taking at least 1.5 of the dose recommended on the label, or up to twice the recommended dosage.
  • Essential Fatty Acids. I talk a lot about Omega-3 fatty acids because they are necessary for our health. After surgery, you need to take between 3-6 grams of fish oil every day. Some patients find it hard to digest these pills, so spreading them out during the day is a great idea.
  • Other nutrients. I suggest a good protein supplement you can take in a smoothie. Add in fiber (I love ground flax seed) and think about a powered super-food you can put in the smoothie.
