[ALERT] Is Coffee Your WORST Enemy!?

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

A good friend of mine claims she needs to drink coffee before her feet hit the floor.

I jokingly asked her if she sleeps with her coffee maker and she said, “yes… it’s more reliable than a husband!”.

But once I told her about this new discovery, she was stunned.

If you’re like my friend, you’ll want to rethink your morning routine.

Researchers have discovered that coffee could be DESTROYING your health… and paving the way to disease.

*****

Any regular reader will know that I love coffee.

But now a new study shows that there are a few problems with coffee-first approach in the morning.

The first is that sleep is a dehydrating event. With each breath you exhale during the night, moisture is escaping your body. No matter who you are, you’re dehydrated by the time you wake in the morning.

This means that reaching for coffee first thing could leave you even MORE dehydrated.

The second, and more important reason to wait for coffee, is your natural body clock (circadian rhythm).

When you drink coffee, you send your cortisol levels SPIRALING, which disrupts this natural cycle.

You see, there’s a natural peak of cortisol that happens somewhere between 30 and 90 minutes after you wake up. Think of cortisol as your body’s natural energy-booster—if you jolt yourself awake with coffee you’re throwing it completely off-kilter.

And as I’ve written before, you do not want to mess with your circadian rhythm. This can lead to lung disease and even cancer.

But the good news is, you DON’T have to stop drinking coffee completely… just change when you drink it.

There are a few ways to do this.

The first is to wake, take a shower and get ready for your day before drinking your coffee.

If you’re one of those people who have a hard time waking in the morning, you could be experiencing sleep inertia, a completely normal condition. Your brain typically doesn’t instantly wake up after sleeping – it just takes a while to transition from sleep to waking.

If you suffer from sleep inertia, try setting your alarm early and drinking a glass of water when your alarm goes off, then close your eyes again. It’s a way to naturally rehydrate while you get a few more minutes of shuteye, so that you CAN have that cup of coffee when you get out of bed.

Before you know it, your new routine will have you feeling refreshed and energized each morning instead… and you won’t be putting yourself on the path to disease.
