Stop Killer Cancer Cells COLD with Plant Power
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
Most folks are shocked to learn the world’s second most common type of cancer is lung cancer.
Last year, 1.8 million people died from this devastating disease.
Even though the number of people who smoke these days has dramatically decreased, a lot of folks still light up. Besides, smoking isn’t the only source of lung cancer. Toxic work exposure and air pollution are other top causes.
Lung cancer is notoriously hard to treat. Even worse? Chemo and radiation are typically a bust.
In fact, only about half the people diagnosed with lung cancer live another year. And within five years, only seven percent of those diagnosed with this disease are still alive.
Luckily, nature is here to lend us a hand with a powerful plant compound most folks have never even heard of.
I’m talking about a substance called berberine.
Berberine is a naturally occurring plant compound. It’s found in many plants, including goldenseal, Oregon grape, barberry, and tree turmeric. And it’s no mere coincidence that these same plants have been used medicinally for thousands of years (mostly for boosting the immune system).
A new study published in the journal Pharmaceutics confirms that berberine effectively stops the growth of lung cancer cells in the lab. We still have a lot to learn, but what we know so far is exciting.
The researchers are still trying to figure out exactly how berberine performs this incredible trick. But they suspect the compound may trigger a drop in inflammation and oxidation.
Berberine is already a superstar extract with an impressive resume. The compound is credited with…
- strengthening heart beats
- reducing belly fat
- lowering blood sugar and cholesterol
- supporting good digestion
Berberine has even been used successfully for years to fight chronic urinary tract infections.
You can raise your own berberine levels by supplementing with herbs such as goldenseal and Oregon grape. But it’s tough to get enough of the compound that way to be effective.
Instead, I suggest taking a concentrated version of berberine to get the most potential benefits.
PS: Diagnosed with lung cancer? Tip the odds even FURTHER in your favor with this spicy secret hiding out in your kitchen.

I’m not going to pull any punches here. Getting a prostate cancer diagnosis is downright terrifying. And that’s especially true because for YEARS there weren’t any remarkable advancements in the treatments for this cancer. Watchful waiting (active surveillance) was the best we could do for men with small tumors that didn’t appear aggressive. And for...
We’ve lived with COVID-19 for nearly three years now. That means we KNOW what it looks like, right? Wrong. The dominant COVID strain infecting people today doesn’t look exactly like the one that infected people last year. The virus is constantly changing. And so are the symptoms when you catch it. Different COVID strains appear...
My excellent editor told me the other day that she gave in and took some naproxen for her psoriatic arthritis pain. And she’s not alone. Occasionally even people who are passionate about natural medicine turn to over-the-counter or prescription drugs for pain relief. After all, joint pain can be downright debilitating. But before you reach...
People ask me all the time what I think about meat substitutes. My reply is simple: “They’re junk!” The labels claim that these fake meats are better for your health and the environment. Ask a group of middle-aged people about their biggest fear, and they will almost universally say, “losing their minds.” And I agree. For YEARS, modern medicine essentially ignored the gastrointestinal tract. Sure, it’s where you digest and absorb your food. But that was the end of the story. They were clueless about how intertwined our digestive system is with our OVERALL well-being. We now understand our gut is so closely linked to our health that it’s impossible...
When I first spotted this new study on the supposed benefits of eating honey, I was ready to punch holes in it (for reasons I’ll reveal in a moment). In fact, I’d typically toss a study like this one in the trash and move on. But as I thumbed through the research published in the...
