The SHOCKING Truth About HIDDEN Antibiotics

I bet you do your best to AVOID unnecessary antibiotics. After all, the overuse of these lifesaving drugs has led to antibiotic resistance.

And the result is the emergence of superbugs that can cause dangerous (and even DEADLY) infections that resist all conventional medicines.

But what if I told you that you were being force-fed antibiotics without your knowledge?

It sounds too crazy to be true, right? Well, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

Let me explain…

To keep our food from spoiling, we need preservatives. Sugar, salt, vinegar, and alcohol have been used for centuries to extend the shelf life of our food supply.

The modern food industry then created chemical preservatives, including sodium benzoate, calcium propionate, and potassium sorbate, to keep foods shelf-stable for far longer.

But now there’s a new kid on the food-preserving block. Lantibiotics are the current darling of the food industry.

These natural antimicrobial peptides are produced by certain benign bacteria. At first glance, they have a pretty impressive resume.

Lantibiotics extend a food’s shelf life and prevent spoilage without using synthetic chemicals. The tiny proteins can poke holes in the cell membranes of harmful bacteria, destroying them.

Nisin is one of the most common lantibiotics. It’s added to processed foods to ward off listeria, staphylococcus, and other pathogenic bacteria.

Lantibiotics are even recognized as a safe, natural preservative by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). But when you look closer, there’s a dark side to these compounds.

Lantibiotics are natural antibiotics that are being secretly slipped into your food.

As I’ve often explained before, just because something occurs in nature does NOT mean it’s safe. After all, if it did we’d be rolling around in poison ivy and eating arsenic without a care in the world.

And it probably won’t come as a surprise to learn that we’re pretty clueless about what the long-term effects of regularly ingesting lantibiotics will have on human health.

Yet food manufacturers are still liberally dumping them into our food.

What is most concerning at the moment is what these drugs are doing to our gut microbiomes.

The microbiome is a network of microorganisms living in your gut that play a crucial role in various essential processes, such as nutrient digestion, vitamin synthesis, and the prevention of harmful infections.

Every time you eat a food that contains lantibiotics, you could be destroying beneficial gut bacteria.

This creates an environment that allows invading microorganisms to grow and thrive. Ultimately, this can lead to inflammation, infection, and other complications.

So, while lantibiotics help fend off foodborne illnesses, their overuse may carry unintended health consequences we have yet to understand.

The food industry is moving full steam ahead on using antimicrobial additives to control pathogens and extend shelf life. However, like many quick-fix solutions, we could end up paying a stiff price for this convenience later if lantibiotics erode the delicate balance of bacteria in our intestines.

The most reliable way to steer clear of risky antimicrobials is to do what I’ve recommended many times before. Avoid eating processed and packaged food as much as you possibly can.

Instead, focus your diet on fresh, whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, eggs, meat, and dairy. Select organic whenever possible.

Probiotic foods like yogurt, kefir, kimchi, and other fermented foods can also strengthen gut health, helping your body fight back against hidden and known threats.

And another thing…
